May we tell you about our worship services?

Since it is our purpose to be governed in all things by the Bible, our worship is patterned after those elements found in the first century church, as found in the New Testament.

The student of the Bible will observe that the New Testament describes five distinctive acts of worship.  They include:

Singing Praying Preaching Giving The Lord's Supper

Most are acquainted with these acts of worship, however allow us to point out some areas where you may find us different.

Our singing is acappella meaning that there are no mechanical instruments used as aids to our singing. This is the way the early church of the New Testament worshiped (Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:18,19).

In our prayers we seek God’s will (James 4:13-15) and we pray in the name of Jesus Christ (Eph. 5:20).

Preaching is Bible-based and is to "reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."(2 Tim. 4:2)  Opinions and politics are not to be found in the pulpit.

Giving is to be as one has "prospered," as they have "purposed in their heart" and "done cheerfully" (1 Cor. 16:2 and 2 Cor. 9:7).

The Lord’s Supper is observed every Lord’s day. This is the first day of every week. This memorial supper was instituted by our Lord the night of His betrayal and arrest (Matt. 26:26-29). The emblems are unleavened bread and grape juice which symbolize the body and the blood of Jesus. Every Lord’s day is celebrated as a resurrection day as it was in the early church (Acts 20:7).

"God is a Spirit:
and they that worship him
must worship him in spirit and in truth."
John 4:24
