One Nation Under God
One Nation Under God?
Dear Fellow Christians,
I am a new member and I would like to share the following. This past weekend, I watched Session I of a video presentation by Dave Miller titled The Silencing of God: The Dismantling of America's Christian Heritage. I left this presentation shaken.
We are at war today, the most important war of our lives. I fear for my children, their children and those that follow. Liberalists, humanists, atheists, and the immoral are 'fighting' to take away our rights as Christians. This is so much more serious than many want to acknowledge or believe.
Research shows what has happened in just the past 50 years: the banning of prayer (not only from our schools), continuing removal of religious monuments and/or religious wording from public institutions and state seals, attempts to remove 'In God We Trust' from our money and 'Under God' from our Pledge of Allegiance, Christians opposing homosexuality on a street corner being imprisoned and charged with a hate crime, and on and on... and the war continues. The first 5-10 minutes of Dave's presentation was the reading of a list of what has happened against "Christianity" in the last 50 years. It is truly frightening.
Our forefathers believed in God and never intended for our lives to be separated from God in any way. The constitution does not even have the words "separation of church and state" in it. Those words were in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson referring to the government in interfering with our freedom of religion!
Please go online, or check out a book from your library, and read the inaugural addresses of the presidents of the United States. Every single president from George Washington to George Bush spoke of God in the
ir addresses... and some did so repeatedly. Some referred to "Almighty God," "Creator," "Divine Providence," etc., but it is clear from their words that they were referring to God.God and Christianity are being chipped away slowly and our nation IS becoming separated from God. As Christians, we can no longer be apathetic or silent. We must let our voices be heard. Above all, we must pray that the most godly candidate will be chosen to be our next president so that God's will may be done - not man's.History tells us of great empires (national) that have fallen because they were separated from God. The United States will fall, too, if Christians continue to remain silent and the "minority" (non-Christians) continues to be heard. The minority is growing.
"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34) (ESV).
In Christ,
